The nightlife in Hong Kong varies from wild and rowdy to refined and classy. There is literally a bar or club to suit anyone's tastes. This city knows how to work hard, but it also knows how to party even harder. There are several nightlife districts that have different options available.

Lan Kwai Fong

The most famous night life district in Hong Kong is Lan Kwai Fong. The party never stops in Lan Kwai Fong and there are immense options. This is the place to go for happy hour drinks, late night dancing, live music, and getting a little bit out of control. This area is especially popular with visitors from out of town and expatriates. The bars, clubs, pubs, and restaurants line the streets of Lan Kwai Fong and D'aguilar Street in Central.

Wan Chai

The classic nightlife district that has been famous for over fifty-years is Wan Chai. The 50's movie World of Suzie Wong made this area well known worldwide. Wan Chai has cleaned its act up a bit, but there are still some seedier bars with girls calling in the overseas business men into their questionable establishments. This part of town becomes exceptionally popular when the military boats dock in Wan Chai. However, there are some more respectable bars in town that can offer quite a lot of fun. Several pubs offer live international sport television where you can watch your favorite team playing cricket, rugby and football. There are clubs that patrons can dance and listen to hip hop music into the early hours of the morning. The Wan Chai nightlife district is located around the Streets of Lockhart Road and Hennessey Road.

Soho/Hollywood Road

South of Hollywood Road (Soho) is the area to go for a more relaxing drink and chat with a friend. This area has a wide variety of restaurants and pubs offering up every type of international cuisine imaginable. Many people head up to Soho for dinner then head out for a relaxing drink afterwards. There are several nice wine bars serving up fine international wines. The main bars are located along Eglin Street and Staunton Street right off the mid-levels escalator.

There is a brand new nightlife area emerging along Hollywood Road. There are many new bars and restaurants that have opened up over the past few months. These venues are offering some more refined and luxurious lounges where the jet set and upper crust crowd have been hanging out. There are also some very elite dance clubs in the area where being a member or having your name on the guest list will help you stroll past the doormen.

Causeway Bay

If you're looking for a less pretentious area to grab a drink and relax then head to Causeway Bay. This area is often frequented by local residents. There are good karaoke bars to sing your heart out or quiet pubs to grab a pint. Most of the bars are located in the area near Sogo and Times Square.
